Be sure to review the category descriptions below to best choose
for your entry.
Remember that Solo entries are made entirely by one person; Duet
entries are shared efforts between two people; and that quilts made by more than four hands
typically belong in the Group category with exceptions for
Large, Kit and Youth Quilter entries.
These categories, with the exception of the Showcase, will be
voted on by the viewing public.
Members may register up to 3 entries within these
categories. One
additional entry is allowed in each of: Miniatures, Wearables,
and Accessory/3-D for voting.
Entries in the Membership Challenge or Special Displays
do not count against the three-quilt limit.
Refer to the Quilt Show Policies in the Roster for
further explanations of entry eligibility and policies.

Accessory & 3-D
Object

Functional or decorative items such as tablecloths,
table-runners, door-hangings, bags, boxes, bowls, and other sewn
objects that are not quilts.

will count against the limit.
Appliqué
– Quilts made primarily using appliqué techniques either by hand or
machine.
Art/Innovative
– Quilts made from
original or non-traditional designs with an emphasis on design
innovation and skill in the use of color, fabric, image, or
shape.
Group – Quilts made with the contributions of three or more makers
including round-robins, block exchanges, lucky blocks,
assemblages of antique blocks, or other group projects.
All techniques/styles to be voted on together.
Group quilts count against the three-quilt limit of the

See also Large – Duet/Group.

all techniques and sizes made with children in mind.
Kit/Block-of-the-Month/Panel

made from a kit or other pattern where design and fabric choices
are preselected for the quilt maker.
This includes block-of-the-month quilts, many shop hop
quilts, and quilts made primarily from pre-printed panel
fabrics. Solo, duet,
and group efforts to be voted on together.
Large – Quilts that are to be hung at a length greater than 90 inches,
encompassing all techniques except Whole Cloth.
Solo quilts will be voted on separately from those made
in collaboration with two or more makers, in Duet/Group..
Miniature – Quilts with a perimeter (sum of all sides) no greater than 100
inches that are a scaled-down version of a larger quilt design
(bed-quilt-in-miniature scale).

does not count against the three-quilt limit.
Additional entries will count against the limit.
Mixed Techniques
– Quilts that
incorporate a combination of two or more techniques or styles
(piecing and appliqué, for example) where any one technique
comprises 25% or more of the quilt.
Solo and Duet efforts to be voted on separately.
This category is likely to be subdivided due to typically
large number of entries.
Novice/First Quilt – Quilts made
by beginning quilters; typically a person’s first quilt. All
techniques/sizes to be voted on together.
This voting category is separate from the “Then & Now”
special display.
Pieced – Quilts made primarily with standard piecing techniques without
appique or embellishment.
Solo and Duet efforts to be voted on separately.
This category is likely to be subdivided due to typically
large number of entries.

Quilts that depict images or themes associated with seasons of
the year, holidays, or patriotic impulses. All techniques/sizes
to be voted on together.
Showcase
– This category will not be included in voting.
Members may enter quilts of any technique/style made
individually or in collaboration with others for the viewers’
enjoyment. Entries
in the Showcase will count against the three-quilt limit unless
Special Display arrangements have been made in advance (such as
for antiques or quilts of special interest – which are welcome
but may be limited due to space available).
Small/Wall Hanging
– Quilts with
a perimeter (sum of all sides) no greater than 160 inches that
do not qualify as miniature but are to be judged against other
small quilts. All techniques/styles to be voted on together.

Members may make a single entry in this category that
does not count against the three-quilt limit.
Additional entries will count against that limit.
Whole Cloth –
Quilts made with a single fabric (that may be pieced to the appropriate
size) for the top and a single fabric for the back.
The quilting designs will cover the entire top and may be
hand- or machine-quilted.
Whole Cloth quilts of all sizes from small to large
(longer than 90’) will be hung together in this category.
Youth Quilter
- Quilts made by a person
under the age of 18, entered under the sponsorship of a QA
