Cut five 8 ½” squares – one for inner square (may want to use really cute novelty print), four for background corners.

Cut two 9 ¼” squares for star points and one each 9 1/4” squares for the background and the inner triangles.

Cut all twice diagonally from corner corner.

Using the photo, lay out the block, sewing the star point units together first and then sewing into rows.

Sew rows together to finish block.

Add 3 ½” strip to top and bottom to make a 24 ½” x 30 ½” quilt top.

Lay right sides together to flannel back.

Sew around, leaving a space for turning.  Quilt as desired (no tying please).
