This was my second quilt, from a block of the
Month class at Ballard Sewing, it's my own setting
scheme. The colors match an antique Chinese
rug I inherited. Dawn Kelly did the machine
quilting. |

I was working
on this pieced quilt for my book Beyond the
Blocks, when my editor said we needed another
quilt with an appliqué border. As I
pondered, the World Trade Centers were attacked.
I decided to add home, church, family and the
flags to represent our country and all the things
we hold dear. Based on a traditional
Barrister's block. Appliqué trees by Janie Palsha, quilting by Alvina Nelson. |

This 1929
Kansas City Star pattern quilt, from a QA
class with Beverly Dunivant, quilt historian, uses
1930's reproduction fabrics and took three years
to complete, mostly because of the machine
appliquéd stems, leaves and corners. The
yo-yos were fun, so to make the entire project
last longer, I added buttons. Machine
quilted by Raquel Larson. |

Elizabeth
Gough pieced this design from a Thimbleberries
book by Lynnette Jensen, for a shop sample for
Fudge and the Funnies, Marysville. She asked
me to quilt it with fancy quilting, promising that
after it hangs in the shop for a time, it is mine
to keep. |
