My First Quilt
by Lisa Jenni - 1st Place |
 |
| Almost 4
years ago, we moved from Munich to Redmond, WA.
It wasn't too easy. But then a pregnant
friend who wanted to make a quilt for her baby
talked me into a "Quilting 101" class. Since
then, in little more than a year, I made 10
quilts. I am now a member of QA and Running
Stitches satellite group where I have met the most
wonderful women. I'm very pleased with my
first quilt and I know I have found my love.
Design by Kristine Service, then a teacher at
Pacific Fabrics, Redmond. |

When learning
to sew a straight line, I copied Janet Kime's
picture of a cat quilt made of traditional log
cabin blocks. I purchased white material and
the rest were scraps of materials picked up off
the floor at church where we make quilts for
overseas. Quilted by Frankie Schmidt, Dizzy
Stitching. |

This Trip
Around the World design is the first quilt I ever
made. It took me almost two years to
complete because I quilted it by hand. I've
made many quilts since, but this is still my
favorite. |
