Youth Quilter

Local Hero by Keri Winterhalter - 1st Place

I made this original-design quilt to honor my Army buddy Justin William Michael Hebert, 20.  He was a U.S. Army paratrooper with the 173 Airborne.  He was killed in Kirkuk, Iraq on August 1, 2003.  We love and miss you, Justin.  (Sponsored by QA's Lois Peterson.)

Chaos by Katherine Jennings - 2nd Place
I designed my quilt with the help of my friends at quilt camp, my own visions of my quilt and the input and support of a great quilter.  I made my quilt last June, when I was 13 as part of a week-long class in Port Townsend.  Quilted by Wanda Rains.  (Sponsored by QA member, Maggie Ball.  Teacher, Chris Johnson, Hyla Middle School.)

Keziah's Stars by Keziah Beall - 3rd Place
This is my first quilt, which took me five days to make.  I did it at a quilting camp last spring, at age 13.  I chose these colors because I wanted something bright and cheerful and I chose the pattern because it was simple but pretty.  Quilted by Wanda Rains.  (Sponsored by QA member, Maggie Ball.  Teacher, Chris Johnson, Hyla Middle School.)
