Loose Threads |

Our group was
founded in 1991 as Hearts and Hands. Three of the
original members- Pam Pifer, Joan Dawson and Virginia
Anderson - are still part of the group and Janet Goad joined
us soon afterwards. We lost two members -
Linda Cadigan to cancer in 1997 and Jean Shortt to lung
disease in 2001 - and several original members have moved
out of the area. Carole Rush joined us in 1999,
Kathleen Malarky in 2001. |

In that same year,
we reorganized and became Loose Threads. Bonnie
Chambers joined us in 2003 and Marylou Sommer in 2004 - our
newest members. |

|
|
Weekly meetings are
in members' homes where we work on our projects and exchange
ideas. Field trips as a group are fun, including such
events as Sew Expo and Shop Hop. Several year-long
projects have involved making our own versions of different
round-robin quilts, some of which have been shown as a group
in past QA shows. |

| Over
the last two years, we've enjoyed making quilts as pattern
testers for Sara Nephew's new book Serendipity Quilts, and
we were honored to have Loose Threads mentioned by name in
the book. We are now searching out the perfect repeat
fabric for her next book. |

|
|
|
Loose Threads
actively supports QA projects; out of the eight members in
the group, seven are committee chairs and one is president.
Our group has been in charge of the semi-annual QA retreat
four times, and will be again in November, 2005. We
think everyone looks forward to our handmade favors,
drawings for door prizes, games and mystery projects. |

We are lucky to
have various quilting styles in our group, from very
traditional to contemporary and everything in between.
We have enjoyed learning, supporting and helping each other
through the years and hope to continue to do so for many
years to come. |
