3300 ~ Appliqué

A Garden for All Seasons by Klota Underwood - 1st Place

I love to appliqué and thought that the waterwash technique would give a good background to show off the flowers.  Quilted by Judy Irish.

58 x 64

Baltimore Album by Anne Darrow - 2nd Place
Started around 1991 using Elly Sienkiewicz's book Baltimore Beauties and Beyond.  There are 12 lessons, each showing a different appliqué technique.

81 x 97

4 Block Reduced by Anne Gillihan - 3rd Place
I saw a magazine ad for an antique-quilt reproduction with this design as the center block.  Unable to see the borders, I added the swags.  I tired to use up some of my hand-dyed fabric, but . . . the pieces are too small to use up much fabric, and I had to buy more red for the swags.  I've been working on this quilt off and on for 5 years.

Day at The Lake by Joan Beverly Burns - HM
This quilt brings back fond memories of our fishing trips to Canada's Sheraton Lake - the sounds of the loons and an abundance of wildlife just like this quilt.  Judy Irish did a wonderful of machine quilting to bring the beauty of the lake to life.

62 x 73
