Salmon Journey by Becca Knox - 1st Place |
 |
| Started in
a class with Reynola Pakusich in 2003, this
quilt has been on my design wall ever since,
through a remodel and a new baby. so much
fishing around for the right fabrics!
Thanks to Cheri Kopp for motivating me and to
Marje Mathers for her fabric contribution. |

I made this
quilt for a recent Quilter's Newsletter Magazine
article that featured both the pattern and a
skill-builder section on the scalloped border
and rickrack application. |

Double Wedding Ring by Mary Ann Johnson - 3rd Place Tie |
 |
| I enjoy
making traditionals and miniatures, so I put the
two together. The arcs are paper pieced,
the rest is hand pieced and quilted. |

Diamonds on the
Field by Dianna Park - 3rd Place Tie |
 |
| This
came from the wonderful QA library's Amish Wall
Quilts by Rachel Thomas Pellman and helped me
feel closer to quilters of the past who have
left their craft for me to enjoy. I love
handquilting and work on my quilts while
watching my kids play ball. I couldn't
help but notice the similarity of the center
diamond to the baseball diamond! |

Got Any Paisley? Go Fish by Cheri
Kopp
- HM - Tie |
 |
|
As my
signature fabric, paisley appears in all my
quilts. "Meandering Paths" by Reynola
Pakusich was perfect to feature them
exclusively. AS of this writing, all my
paisleys, plus some from fellow quilters and
some that aren't truly paisleys (about 125
total) were included. First in a series .
. . will the madness ever end? |

Squeeze of Lime by Barbara Dau- HM - Tie |
 |
|
Made in a
two-year color study class with M'Liss Rae
Hawley, this was the final assignment.
This class became the basis for the book Get
Creative with M'Liss Rae Hawley. I was
lucky enough to have this quilt published in the
book. |
