Santa's Silly Reindeer
by Leanna Olmsted - 1st Place |
 |
| I have
made quite a few silly little quilts and this
one appealed to me. Last year I made a
team of chickens pulling Santa's sleigh so when
I saw this pattern, I had to make this one, too.
I was in a quandary about what to do with the
antlers and I settled on twigs. I
hope they don't dry up and break off.
Machine pieced, machine quilted. |

Star of Wonder by
Mary Ellen Lemen - 2nd
Place |
 |
| This
quilt was made to celebrate Christmas in the
optometrist's office where I work. I took
a standard trip around the world pattern,
designed a "wonky" star for the center and added
the double border. It seemed fitting that
the star, reminiscent of the star of the Christ
child which the Magi followed, was in the center
of a trip around the world pattern. The
Magi traveled around the world as they knew it,
to bring gifts to the infant Jesus.
Machine pieced, machine quilted. |

Hummers and
Hollyhocks by Susan Carlisle - 3rd Place |
 |
| Found
pattern on line and thought it would be fun to
do. I hand painted the silk for the
flowers then had appliquéd the design and
machine embroidered the hummingbirds. Hand
and machine pieced, machine quilted. |

Crazy About
Christmas by Tess Herlan - HM |
 |
| This
quilt was made as a sample for a class I taught
in California. The technique is doing a
crazy quilt block without a foundation. A
fun way to use up leftover scraps. Machine
pieced, hand quilted. |
