| I made
this quilt when I was 6, (I am 8 now). I
designed this quilt on a piece of paper first,
then made my picture into a quilt. I did
most of the quilting, but mom had to help a
little. Those Long Arm machines are BIG!

This is the
first quilt I have made all by myself. I bought
the fabric, designed the quilt, pieced the top
and quilted it on my mom's longarm (she helped a
little with that part). The quilt top was
completed at my aunt's house in Edmonton while
on a spring break quilt retreat with my mom.
I love the colors and the frayed edges.

| In the
Fall of 2002, I began on a journey to create my
first quilt. I had decided to create this
quilt because of how cold it gets in my room
during the winter. After selecting the
fabrics, I began to come up with a pattern,
finally deciding on putting a large "S" of blue
fabrics in the middle. I completed the
quilting part in the Summer of 2003 when I was
15 years old. The cutting of the fringe
was way more time consuming than I had
originally thought and so I asked my mom to
complete the cutting for me. My quilt was
finally completed in February of 2005, thanks to
my mother and grandmother for their help.

Jenny's First Quilt - HM |
 |
| Last
summer my Mom taught me how to use a sewing
machine and I pieced my first quilt top.
Mom even let me pick new fabric from a shop
instead of something from her "stash". It
was fun learning to do something my Mom does on
a regular basis. Age 15 when quilt was
made. Machine pieced, machine quilted.
