Washington State by
Wendy Stone - 1st Place |
 |
| My theme was the natural beauty of Washington
State - no commercial images such as lattes or
computers! All county names have been quilted
into the quilt. A picture of all who worked on
my quilt is on the back, along with my reaction
when I saw my quilt for the first time since the
Round Robin began. |

Magical Fish by

This quilt was my biggest challenge. I was asked
to make a fish quilt. I said "NO PROBLEM". What
a joke. I worked for four months. I made fish
then through it away. I found some patterns then
adapted them. This wouldn't have happened if it
wasn't for my friend Pat Smith with her advise
and support. |

Puzzle Perfect by

| Our son has been in Japan for 2 years and I
wanted to make him a remembrance quilt of his
time there. The jagged diamond design resembles
the bark of the hardy pine tree which in Japan
symbolizes perseverance and good fortune. The
Japanese puzzle design is fashioned after the
pine bark design. |

Dresden Plate -
1940's by Mary Ann Johnson - 3rd Place tie |
 |
| The
southwestern colors, spotted by my husband, were
selected in honor of the wedding locale chosen
by our son and fiancée. The blocks, chosen
from Philomena Wiechec's Celtic designs, are
hand appliquéd. The setting was selected
so that there would be room for Joyce Trees'
artistic free motion machine quilting.
Hand and machine pieced, machine quilted. |

Twisted Ribbons by

| I saw the retaining wall that is being built
going down to Tacoma and dreamed this design one
night. I loved being able to have the paper
foundation and regular piecing mixed. |
