#517 ~ The Not-in-Texas Wild
Rose Dude Ranch by Susan M. John - 1st Place |
 |
|
I love to do free-motion scenes. Finding the
images I want to fuse is a challenge, so for
this quilt I constructed the barn and house
myself. Growing up in Texas, we didn't have the
mountains but I couldn't resist putting them
in. I bought a ton of that fabric!
Hand-pieced. Hand-appliquéd. Machine-quilted.

#505 ~ Athens 2004 by Anne
Gillihan - 2nd
Place |
 |
|
My daughter and I went to the Olympics in
Athens, Greece in 2004. My niece was a member
of the bronze-medal-winning synchronized
swimming team. We also visited many antiquities
sites. This quilt, from a photograph we took,
is for my daughter as a reminder of a great
trip. Machine-pieced. Hand-appliquéd.
Machine-quilted. The quilt was begun in a
Charlotte Warr Anderson class. |

#508 ~
Pride's Promenade by
Cindy Rae Udd - 3rd Place |
 |
|
Horses have a pride that shows at times as they
promenade across the green pastures. Some
nights when I close my eyes I see horses in such
great detail that I wanted to create and share
this one with you. Hand-pieced.
Hand-appliquéd. Hand- and machine-quilted. I
give thanks to all the horses that surround me
and the ones who posed for my study during the
day. |

#514 ~ Celestial Triptych: Ares, Gaea, Helios by Marissa
Vignali - HM |

This is an exploration in working with a
restricted palette of fabrics and embellishments
while attempting to maintain a homogeneous
feel. The three panels represent Mars (Ares),
the Earth (Gaea) and the Sun (Helios).
Machine-pieced. Hand-appliquéd.
Machine-quilted. |
